tong tong tong chang

Gong Hei Fatt Choy! Xi Nian Kuai Le! Selamat Tahun Baru Cina!

.....anddd of course, Happy CNY :)

So can I now officially label myself quadra-lingual???

:P

PS - To everyone who commented on my last post - YES I'm a whinger! I complain about everything! But let's face it, if I was happy with everything in my life, I'd be Buddha. The good news is I'm finally done with work so you wont have to listen to me whine about unfriendly colleagues anymore! But rest assured the next time I blog I'll probably be wailing over the fact that I'M GAINING WEIGHT! Thank you, CNY snacks! Grrh!

To mark the occasion, I shall leave you with a CNY-themed picture.

You see! I can make pineapple tarts! Are you like, in awe or what?

blogging from the office

Because as you can tell, I have nothing better to do :P

All of a sudden, I'm inspired to blog! Fuelled mostly by the fact that I've been blog surfing to pass the time. It suddenly struck me that most people really do blog about their personal opinions, as opposed to my random and sporadic updates, which is mostly related to new stuff that I want to buy (heh! material girl alert)

Anyway.

You know how those forwarded emails with lame jokes in them are usually really annoying? I really look forward to them now that I'm working. Really! Some of them are actually really funny. I was sniggering to myself in the office just now and I got some weird looks (as if it isn't bad enough that no one talks to me!)

What sucks is the realization that while I'm sitting here willing time to pass, in less than a week it's going to be CNY. And then, it's straight back to Melbourne, where I have no job, no school and (at this point) no confirmed place to live.

*sigh*

magic

My brother was scoffing at people who watch Taiwanese idol dramas.

"Why would you want to watch that sort of show? The acting is so bad"

Well, yeah, okay, I always thought the acting wasn't half-bad, but who am I to judge *shrug*

I think the real reason why people like to wait T-dramas is because the stories tend to favour the underdogs. In the end, despite every tear-jerking misunderstanding or obstacle, the chubby, not-so-pretty girl WILL land the hot, intelligent guy of her dreams. Or the plain, gawky village girl transforms into an attractive, confident woman and lands the hot rich young CEO. And somehow along the way all the supporting cast members also manage to end up with their soulmates.

She might be chubby, but she's got a hot husband and a sequel deal yo!

It also helps that Taiwanese people seem to be really good at coming up with hugely romantic gestures and scenarios that makes every girl melt into teary puddles (and the inevitable "Oh my GOD, why doesn't my boyfriend ever do anything like that for me?")

Yes, the plots are overblown, far-fetched an unrealistic. But does anyone really want to watch a drama which is about the normal, the mundane and the drearily realistic?

In real life you do NOT find guys who dress like him, much less look like him. Or run gigantic, multi million dollar companies like him.

Every girl wants a bit of magic in her life, right? :)

You know it's Taiwanese when they use chicken costumes as part of a wedding proposal

midnight coffee

Yes, I know I haven't been updating lately (I think that's the most oft-repeated line in this blog :P)
But what to do lah. You guys know what happens when I come back to Malaysia right?

That's right - lots of lazing + lots of running around and eating!

Today is officially my second day of work and I already feel so horrible. Seriously, the feeling of coming home, falling asleep and having to suddenly wake up for dinner is not nice. All I can say is, thank God for Malaysia where Starbucks, caramel macchiatos, blueberry cheesecakes and good company are abundantly available even at midnight :)

Note - I have officially discovered that driving around KL at night in a topless convertible is super fun! BUT, it tangles my hair like a biatch *grumps*
