clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable

I love lazy Sundays!

Not that today was particularly lazy. I was forced awake by Kai and Cliff blaring in the living room over the PS3 :( I tell you, no matter where I move to, my house is perpetually filled with people either playing something/gambling/waiting for other people. Not that I'm complaining, I rather like having so much company anyway - better than an empty apartment, no?

Anyway! There was a good reason to wake up today - the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival! And after receiving texts like this all week from Suvs:-

Hey hey. Are we going to the wine tasting thing on Sunday? Need alcohol. Seriously.

How could I refuse??  :P

The wine tasting was at Southgate, which was brilliant because we got to stroll along the river while sampling wines from over 60 different cellar doors - I definitely didn't manage to hit up all 60, but I discovered an amazing Pinot Gris and Riesling that I'll eventually pick up from the bottle shop (they were selling wines there too, but my Pinot Gris was out of stock :( )  The guys mostly ran around trying reds while Suvs and I stuck to whites - yes, we are soooo typically female, but ugh, red wines are just too strong for the day. And they made me feel like eating steak! Which is so detrimental to my goal of losing weight - am not being very successful at the moment but good things come to those who wait :P

Two hours later, we were in a pretty good mood (heh) and dying for snacks, so we hit up Lord of the Fries for some (duh) fries with heaps of extra mayo. Mmmmm. We probably pissed off a ton of people on the street because we did  that Malaysian thing of congregating in a circle right in the middle of the road to eat every few steps :D

I'm shooo sleepy right now. According to everyone, it's the wine. I think my liver needs to take a break for a while, between clubbing on Friday and drinking today, I'd say that's enough alcohol to last me a while - or at least, until next Friday :P

Oh no, I just remembered that I have like four brand new bottles of wine on the table outside >.<

The three musketeers @ Southgate. Yes, Erwin shaved his head. And he still puts wax in it! Don't ask me why.

Kai/Penguin/Me/Suvs. Gosh, I look so sleepy in these pics!

Ughhh it's Monday tomorrow. Nothing to look forward to except a potential phone interview and a Venti Caramel Macchiato. Oh well, more excuses to shop :P

By the way!

If anyone's interested in getting some Geo lenses for reasonable prices. I'm a huge fan of Geo lenses as you can probably tell from my clubbing pictures! So get them cos they're hot!  :)

fireworks

P1090633

I can't remember how many years its been since I first came to Melbourne,

But I know that I've been to Moomba to watch the fireworks every single year.

And even though this year wasn't as amazing as all the other years past,

There's always something kind of magical about them.

How they pop and flash in the sky, blinding and deafening you all at once

It's because of these fireworks that I paid $7.50 for a single potato with sour cream and cheese on it - for $7.50 I could buy a sack of potatoes, a tub of sour cream and a bag of shredded cheese and eat for weeks! But the thing is, this stuff always seems to taste better when you buy it from a cart that's right next to a rock concert :)

Looking for a job is hard. It's not just hard because there aren't that many available right now - it's also the self-inspection that you're forced to do when answering interview/assessment questions. What ARE my strengths? The first thing that comes to mind is that I can tell you anything you want to know about makeup, which would be great if there were any jobs in makeup, which there aren't. Why SHOULD they hire me? Because....I'll work really really hard and I really really want a job? And even though I mean this from the bottom of my heart, that's what everyone else will be saying too. This whole concept of marketing myself, amping up certain experiences or characteristics to suit the job, all seems kind of farcey to me. I am what I am. Just because I'm not qualified, or haven't had any directly relevant experience, does not mean that I can't learn and outperform that other guy who seems to fit the bill on paper.

Maybe I should start writing that on my job applications :P

Mmmm...

Red Rock Seasoned Roasted Garlic potato chips ftw!

Today, I'm supposed to be applying for a gazillion different graduate programs. Bleh but I super don't feel like it. I woke up this morning with a terrible tummy ache and was bedridden till almost 3. On the plus side, I managed to download a bunch of awesome new iPhone apps with all that free time :)

You know those online assessment IQ test thingies? I hate them! I just did one and I don't think I did very well because obviously I'm sick today, so my brain was all fuzzy - not a good time to test me on statistics and sequential shapes. I hope I did well though. This is the first job application that's resulted in a progression to the second stage for me. Getting a job is harrrddd. :(

Pictures I recently uploaded! (Yes, I am a bum who only transfers pics when her camera is full. Thank God my SD card is only 1 gig, otherwise it'd take even longer!)

This was Jac's last day in KL, so we met up at our favourite Bangsar chillout spot (second only to Delicious, hmm??) for my usual humungous breakfast and some TABOO! *ahem* so much for Terri and Caryl's "unbeatable" team. Jac, Lyn and I beat them by a whole ten points! Nerny nerny boo boo :P Terri I'll never let you forget it!

Me, forcing my brother to take a picture of me and Erwin, the accidental couple who wore matching clothes to Su Ann's open house. Of course, he had to press the shutter while we weren't ready. Hmpf.

Zouk, of course, before I left! Omagah, it is soooo freakin packed in Phuture its worse than a can of sardines! Hence the lack of pictures - no space to lift up my arm! It was better in Velvet - less people, more space. But we were busy dancing madly to retro RnB! It was super super fun, and Kim finally got to go OUT out. Hahahaha :P

Full House, decent food in an extra-kawaii setting at a reasonable price. Lam and Damien hijacked me to NZS, so obviously in return they had to get me lunch! Try their Spaghetti Carbonara! Awesomeness. This menu illustration cracked me up - "Mom! 12 more milkshakes!" Hahaha!

Back in Melbourne, and what better way to get my spirits up than Jaggerbombs :P I think I must've had three of these that night, in addition to lots of other stuff that I can't really remember O.O

As you can probably see, it was hot and sweaty in there! Dancing with these guys is insane - they're like Energizer bunnies! I think we were moshing for a good two hours straight! Not to mention the fact that we were all quite...errmm happy, hahaha!

EELYNN - since you were Man of the Day (or is it woman of the day? Which one you want?) I HAVE to post this picture of you - don't kill me ok :P

PS - My rose got destroyed la thanks to all that moshing! *Sulks*

a quickie

So, my first two weeks back in Melbourne were, as Dahbuu predicted, "predictable". He cut me off mid-rant with

"Haiya okay la we all know the drill. You come back, spend one month hating Melbourne, then start getting used to it and finally shutting up about KL"

AND he included the dare-you-to-prove-me-wrong look. BAH!

Ok, so I am predictable. But at least my homesickness is wearing off, unlike someone else I know, who, is jetting off back to Malaysia tonight after a mere WEEK here. :P

Damnit! Thought I would have enough time to blog but people are surprisingly on time! Off to Cho Gao for sum beeeerrr.
